Ounces to Grams

Often times in candle-making, we begin our journey by measuring everything in ounces. It’s the easiest method and for the most part, yields the results we are looking for. However, as you begin to test more and scale up production, you may start to notice inconsistencies between sessions. 

By switching to grams, your test results become more accurate and your large production batches become more consistent, which was one of the major things I noticed when switching from working primarily in ounces to grams. I also invested in a small gram scale for measuring fragrance oil and that small investment proved to be very beneficial in my journey. 

However, while it’s easy to figure out your fragrance load and wax weight, it’s a bit more challenging converting that weight to grams. Every 1oz equals 28.3495 grams. For most of us, that math is too time consuming to calculate on a daily basis, however you start to memorize conversions the more you create the same type of batches.
